This might change how you recruit: 400 Visa vs 482 Visa

The Australian government has a lesser-known skilled working visa called the 400 visa, but it has an incredible advantage!

The 400 visa enables Australian employers and recruiters to get overseas workers started in a role really quickly – think weeks, not months. It’s great for short-term positions.

At a basic level, the subclass 400 visa differs from the subclass 482 visa in the following ways:

  1. The 400 visa enables a worker to come to Australia for a maximum cumulative stay of six months within a 12-month period – The visa takes us at the Ayers Group just a few weeks to get approved.
  2. The 482 visa allows a worker to come to Australia for an ongoing stay of two or four years and takes us around 1-2 months to get approved.

The biggest benefit of the 400 visa for Recruiters is speed – it realistically opens the international market to roles that need to be filled quickly. The visa turnaround time is realistically less than the standard notice period a local worker would need to give their employer. With the local skills shortage and abundance of quality talent overseas, this visa needs more attention.
