Getting Back to Business

As our communities slowly open, allowing businesses to get back onsite, it’s important that you continue to minimise the risk of COVID-19 transmission in your workplace.

To do this, follow COVID-19 safety plans and, as far as possible, take steps to:

  • Ensure your staff are vaccinated,
  • Implement regular onsite testing programs for workers or in-home testing kits(when approved by the TGA),
  • Ensure all workers and visitors check in via your state’sQR code check in system or log their presence in a visitor’s book,
  • Maintain appropriate COVID safe behaviours including mask wearing, physical distancing and relevant indoor capacity limits,
  • Improve indoor ventilation or filtration.
  • Display signage at each public entry to indoor and outdoor spaces, stating the capacity and face mask restrictions where required.
In the event a staff member or visitor tests positive:
  • Regardless of whether the person is vaccinated or not, they must follow the advice of your state government health team in terms of self-isolation,
  • Health departments indifferent states have different rules surrounding notification in the event of a positive COVID case-In NSW, you must notify NSW Health if three or more employees in your business test positive for COVID-19 within a seven-day period; in Victoria, employers must notify the department of any confirmed case of COVID-19in the workplace. Penalties apply for failing to do so.
  • In all cases, refer to your COVID Safety Plan and risk assessment approach for instructions on notifying other staff.

Your customer-facing employees can access free training to help them administer and implement infection control policies and procedures within workplaces. Short, accredited training programs have been developed by Victorian TAFEs and Registered Training Organisations.
